Appearance:Jalen has dark brown hair, dark green eyes, and a tanned complexion from constantly being in the sun. He is reasonably tall for his age, standing at about 165cm (5'6').
Personality:
Jalen is a determined and adventurous person with a lot of energy. He loves problems and is quite competitive. However, he can have trouble listening sometimes, and is often impatient and will often be impulsive and take big risks.
Jalen also has emotional scars from his childhood (due to growing up on a pirate ship) in that he needs approval from others. He can be cold blooded and stubborn.History:
Jalen's mother was the daughter of a brown rider. She was born and raised on the Southern Continent. She had four brothers all of whom became dragonriders and the same expectation was placed on her. She was Searched several times but never Impressed. After several attempts the pressure from her parents became too much and she ran away. She joined a group of pirates, married one of them and bore his son.
Jalen was born in a cave during Threadfall and spent all of his early years as a pirate. During that time the opportunities for pirating increased and pirates introduced their sons to the craft at a very early age.
Life as a pirate was hard on Jalen but when his father became a captain Jalen worked hard to impress him, becoming the best apprentice of all the ships in that fleet. This and his father's important position lead Jalen to become cocky and arrogant, even to the point where at the age of fourteen, he stole a firelizard egg and Impressed its brown firelizard.
When he was caught Jalen got off lightly - he was severely whipped and then sold as a galley drudge to a fledgling fleet of pirate ships. He served on this ship for several months before it's captain sent the ship marauding too close to Ista Hold and the ship was attacked and sunk.
Jalen almost drowned but was saved by shipfish. This humbled him and he decided to turn his back on pirating if he could get another chance. Fortunatley, he was given one, unlike most of his pirating companions and sent to a Seacraft Hall. He made several friends there who helped rub off some of his sharp edges. However, the senior journeyman and many other apprentices didn't like him due to his pirate background, the fact that he had a fireizard and that he was one of the best in his classes. So, when Jalen and another apprentice started a fight it was decided that he should be transfered to the Hall at Zakat Island Hold.

Appearance:Silie is a normal brown firelizard, but his legs have a lighter brown color than the rest of his body.
Personality:
Silie got his name from being uncoordinated, as he will often fly into walls and doors accidentaly. He is very protective of Jalen and enjoys sunning himself and playing with other firelizards.
