Milyusa
Apprentice Runner

Persona's Name: Milyusa
Persona's Location: Icundsa Weyr
Status: PC - Owned and Active
Rank: Apprentice Runner
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Birth Place: A Small Northern Holding
Birthingday: Interval Turn 184
Father: Rilus, Beastcraft Journeyman
Mother: Mylla, Beastcraft Master

Appearance:

The most notable feature of the young messenger is her tall, slender frame, muscular with the years of the physical training she has put herself through. Quite 'boyish' in shape, Milyusa has nothing in the way of attractive curves or lines. Skin has been tanned brown with long exposure to the sun, leaving only a bit of her pale Northern color in the few places where light couldn't reach. Notably the undersides of her arms and under her carefully crafted ankle-high boots leave odd creamy and tanned variations to her skin.

It is obvious Milyusa takes her duty very seriously for in order to decrease wind residence, she has sacrificed an attractive hairstyle in favor of fingerlength hair all across her head. The flat laying strands are bleached with sun, existing as a bright white-blonde against the browned skin of her face. A solemn youth, the young woman's features are likewise firm, symmetrical, and beautiful only in that they are well toned and tranquil. A finely crafted neck leads to muscled but not broad shoulders. Flat-chested and lacking plumpness, the youth resembles much more a boy of 18 then a youthful woman of 16, but there is a touch of graceful femininity about her that does identify her gender.

Light yet warm is the runner's typical style of clothing, choosing standard browns for pants of ankle length, and warm, body hugging tunics. Preferring not to wear the tangling shoulder knot, a patch sewn to her shirt declares her Master Mylla's personal runner of the Southern Beastcraft stationed at Icundsa. Recently, with the new ownership of a fine thick coated Runnerbeast, Milyusa has taken to thicker and longer breeches and boots which are better for riding.

Personality:

Milyusa is a very solemn, honorable young woman, who takes her responsibilities and loyalties very seriously. Somewhat taciturn and lacking the initiative to make friends, she still enjoys the company of others, or rather, of other people who she considers 'equals'. This contemptuous attitude often gives the impression that the Runner has an arrogant and selfish personality. However, Mil is truly the opposite, and while aloof, cannot stand boasting, and wouldn't dare do so herself. She considers bragging useless and time consuming. Whining and complaining are other annoyances that she cannot, and often times will not endure.

The opinionated teenager rarely has compassion and sympathy for those who won't go out of their way to change things they don't like or feel is wrong. Harsh and often brusque to those who refuse to stand up for themselves, she will often interfere with arguments or even fights without permission. Milyusa will speak out, and act upon what she feels is right, whether or not it is a social norm or common belief.

Icy and distant on the outside, she has a quiet and loving interior which few have a chance to experience for themselves. Human companions are often scoffed at, the young woman usually prefers the company of her Runnerbeast, Sister Star. Dragonriders might not get the interest of Mil, but she adores their mounts, finding them the perfect example of loyalty and physical superiority. She has scoured the beaches of Zakat Island during grudgingly taken breaks for their miniature cousins, the firelizards.

While having resigned herself to the duty of Beastcraft Runner, a small part of her still wishes to Impress the beautiful winged beasts of the Weyr. It's likely Milyusa will try the Sands at Icundsa's next Hatching.whether anyone wishes her to or not.

History:

In the 175th Turn a young Beastcrafter named Mylla acquired her Master status in the Beastcrafthall of the Northern Continent. Eager and zealous in her new position, the new Master transferred quickly to the Southern lands, hoping for status she couldn't acquire in the crowded crafthalls of the North. In Zakat's new facilities, she became a teacher of high regard, choosing only the best of students to be her proteges.

Time went by, four Turns passing before something changed the 35-year-old teacher's life. Love entered her life, in the form of one of her students. He wasn't much younger than her, having come late into the craft, and so their relationship escalated quickly, age being no hindrance to their mutual attraction to one another. Never officially handfasted, both often overstepped the bounds of simple Master-Apprentice association.

The Northern Crafthall was not pleased to find out that a teacher, especially as talented a Master as Mylla, had broken the rules of conduct between teacher and student. Though neither had let their personal life get in the way of duty and studies, the North took authority of the situation with an iron fist. They transferred Rilus as a Journeyman to some cold, forsaken, northern holding, and insisted firmly that Mylla remain in the South.

For a while, the strong-willed Master relented, being pregnant with her first child, but almost as soon as the babe was born, wrapped in swaddling, and handed off to a foster mother, Mylla took the next ship north. Turns it took her to find her lover again, but when she found Rilus, they both refused to part. Staying hidden in the small northern hold, they had their second child, Milyusa during the 184th Turn.

Milyusa was raised with the holder children, but grew away from them as she got older, she said, because of her Crafter heritage. However, the young girl wasn't interested in her parent's trade, but rather admired the physically fit and reliable Runners, who still brought news and information when fire lizards or dragons couldn't be used. The work of a Runner seemed far more honorable and material than her mother and father's craft, which would often take generations of animals to have a profound affect on a breed.

The Crafter's daughter had set her goal, and after scrutinizing and questioning the Runners of the hold, began to train in secret for the arduous and harsh life she had decided she wanted. She began to avoid the lessons of her parents increasingly, taking the gleaned time to stretch and work out instead of studying the various ways to breed herd and Runnerbeast. Her father would often question the child intensely about where she spent her time, but the youth was mysterious, and found many ways to conceal the secret.

But it wasn't long before Mylla found out about her daughter's obsession, and while disappointed in the social status of the girl's choice, admired the determination she had for it. Instead of admonishing Milyusa, she encouraged her, letting the youth practice the occupation she had chosen by running errands for her mother. It was on one of these trips that another Beastcrafter noticed her, and recognized the features of the child as those of the two crafters who had gone missing several Turns back. Mylla and Rilus had finally been found out.

Again, the Northern Crafthall took control. They exiled Mylla to the South, and refused to confirm the training she had received, in hopes that it might teach her to respect the Northern Crafthall's authority. Instead, Mylla simply took what jobs she could, continuing to refuse the leadership of the north. Though successful in acquiring what she needed to live and thrive, she missed her love and daughter. Both had been required to remain north.

Milyusa continued her duties as a Runner, and when she reached fifteen Turns, decided to rejoin her mother in the South. Likely, this was because of her mother's new station at Icundsa Weyr, which would provide both with opportunities unavailable elsewhere. She has lived in the caves for a year now, acting as her mother's aid when dragonriders are too busy to offer their help. Recently, she was given a thick coated Runnerbeast from her mother in celebration of her 16th Turn.

Pet's Name: Sister Star
Pet Species: Runnerbeast
Pet's Age: 4

Pet's Appearance:

Shaggy black hair covers the length of the broad immense form, made for endurance more than speed. It is unlikely that the great hulk of a creature would have a problem fording through mounds of snow. One of the only specimens of a newly developed breed, the mare's thick coat is vastly dark except for three white markings on her forehead. These trinity of points has given the massive beast her name.

Pet's Personality:

Star Sister has a sweet and quiet disposition, neither easily excited nor startled. Unlike most Runnerbeasts, she has been raised since birth on Weyr grounds, and so has no fear of dragons, a great asset to her mistress, Milyusa.
