of Zakat Weyr

Persona's Name: Sarnna
Location: Zakat Weyr
Status: PC - Active & Owned
Rank: Headwoman
Former Rank: Candidate, Sixth Heir to Bram Cothold
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Birthplace: Bram Cothold, under Zakat Hold
Birthdate: T 178 (Interval)
Father: Bram - Cotholder of Bram, under Zakat Island Hold
Mother: Kimika - Beastcraft Journeywoman

Appearance:

Of an unusual ancestry, Sarnna seems to have received the genes of distant Irish and Asian descent. Short, yet willowy, the young woman has slender, delicate features, and a warm pleasant face. Smooth cheekbones add to the golden beauty of her skin, likely coming from her father's side. The raven's darkness of hair and eyes comes from her mother's family, though the way the thick strands fall in gentle ringlets hails the Irish origin of hundreds of Turns past. The former daughter of a cotholder, Sarnna is inclined to wear simple garb. A loose, cool tunic and ankle length skirts of comfortable and appropriate design, often adorns her small form.

Personality:

Though diminutive and seemingly fragile in form, the Headwoman's personality is far from what her minute frame would be expected to produce. Growing up with five huge brothers has lent the woman an assertiveness and passion unmatched by many. A sweet disposition as well as a strong spirit such as Sarnna has, would seem good material for a dragonrider, but the hatchings have passed unsuccessful. Many times failed Candidate, the young woman has finally taken up the responsibilities she has been tending the past Turn, as an official position.

As Headwoman, she is gentle and kind to those working under her direction. Patient and fair, Sarnna will often stubbornly refuse to let anyone do anything that she herself would not. She helps catch tunnel snakes, wash dishes, clean laundry, tidy weyrs, mend clothes, boil numbweed, and cook with everyone else in the Caverns, unwilling to let even her hands be left unoccupied. While understanding and compassionate, Sarnna will _not_ allow cruel pranks or idle fingers. Putting the two, troublemaking and idleness, hand in hand, the young woman sees that all in the Lower Caverns are kept busy at whatever tasks they are most suited for. However, being hardly heartless, Sarnna always has room in her schedule to make exceptions, when the need is great enough.

History:

In the humid heat of an especially temperate summer, a small girl, the only one to be born to Bram and Kimika of Bram cothold, came into the world. Tiny compared to the size of her immense brothers when they were birthed, it was clear that little Sarnna would take a very different path than her cothold bound siblings.

Though that destiny was not to be known until a later time. Raised with six boys (her younger brother Yunik was born a few years after her own birth) youthful Sarnna had to learn quickly to keep up with the pranks of her troublesome brothers. So clever and quick did she become over the course of ten years, that she began to pay the privilege back upon them.

While taught in the trade of her mother and father, neither beastcraft nor cotholding seemed to fit the desire of Sarnna, who would often stare with longing at seas to the North. The murmuring in her sleep spoke of dragonriders, and often Sarnna would scan the shores near her home for the nests of the dragon-like flits. Though never finding any, her parents could sense the longing and promise in their daughter, and during one of the Northern Searches in the South, brought their 10-turn-old daughter to Zarak Hold.

Not surprisingly, she was chosen by the still novice greenrider (the only person the infamous North would send to Search the Southern holdings) and shipped away with the blessings, hope, and love of her kind family. Unfortunately, luck in the choosing was not luck on the sands. Six unsuccessful and frustrating years passed, in which the times between hatchings were work filled and drab. Instead of allowing the youth to pursue pleasant hobbies, Sarnna was shunted off to the tasks of the Lower Caverns. She had little free time in the crowded Weyr, and as a Southerner, was expected to earn her stay, even though she was a Candidate.

With the movement of a group of riders back to the Southern Continent to protect the Weyrless holdings, Sarnna was both pressed by her current residence, and willing, to return her homeland. She was welcomed on the sands of Icundsa, though no more successful than those of her former Weyr. Without a grumble, Sarnna resigned herself to organizing the tasks of the newly formed Lower Caverns (of which she knew _all_ the workings).

When the day of the Hatching came, Sarnna was delayed to the event by an accident involving one of the back storage rooms and another Candidate named Xaiyr. Luckily, dragonrider I'fan, a newly made friend of Sarnna, realized she was missing, and managed to get her to Hatching before it was over. Unfortunately, not even the brownrider's dedication could help the woman in Impression, and once again (and for the final time) Sarnna was left standing on the Sands.

However, despite her inability to Impress, Sarnna was not meant to return to Hold life. Even though Sarnna knew she would never be a dragonrider, she refused to leave the Weyr. Luckily for both Zakat and the ex-Candidate, Weyrwoman Syrallin came up with the perfect occupation for the hardworking individual. On the same day in which she was abandoned by the dragons, Sarnna, daughter of Bram and Kimika, took up the duty of Headwoman for Zakat Weyr.

Congratulated by her family, the new Headwoman was allowed a grace period before starting her duties, and spent a week or two at her family's Hold, catching up on all she's missed from staying turns in the Weyrs. I'fan, dragonrider of brown Mianth, flew Sarnna to Bram Cothold, and spent some time there himself, resting before the next Threadfall.
