HallMaster:
The senior authoritive figure in the
CraftHall. The HallMaster normally
has several Turns of experience as a Master
before being put in command of a whole
Hall. They hold ultimate authority in
a Hall, although it is extremely unusual
that they be called to discipline any
member of the Hall. The Hallmaster is
expected to deal with matters such as
disregard of a person's duty to the Hall,
severe infractions against the Hall or a
resident thereof, and purposeful damage or
destruction of the Hall or its reputation.
It is the HallMaster who gives final
approval for advancement in rank for any of
the Crafters under their command.
They are also expected to meet in the
Southern Continent Conclave which is held
once a Turn.
HallSecond:
The HallSecond is usually of Master rank,
although they may also be elected from the
Journeyman ranks if the HallMaster thinks
this to be an appropriate decision. They
are the HallMaster's confidant and carries
out many of the duties that the HallMaster
cannot deal with including all major punishment that
the Hallmaster does not take care of. Actions that warrant the attention of the Hallsecond include: insubordination and minor infractions against the Hall or a resident thereof.
Master:
Every Master has authority over a specific
aspect of their Craft. Any actions
that do not warrant the attention of the
Hallmaster or the Hallsecond will be dealt
with by these people. They are also
responsible for checking products by
journeypeople and apprentices that are to
be sold to the general Pernese public,
inspecting the goods closely before issuing
them with a CraftHall stamp or rejecting
them. Every Master is allowed to take
on a select number of apprentices and
journeypeople as their personal students.
Journeypeople:
Journeypeople specialise in certain aspects
of their Craft. They are the main
teachers, not only in the Hall itself, but
also in the Holds. Journeypeople can
be permanently assigned to the Major Holds
or can journey around the minor Holds,
teaching the Hold children the basics of
Pernese education as they pass though.
Journeypeople take an examination, when
they have accumulated enough knowledge and
experience, to gain the rank of
Senior Journeyperson. All
journeypersons are expected to take care of
any minor problems that arise with the
apprentices.
Apprentices:
Junior Apprentices learn the basics of
their Craft, being taught by Journeypeople.
At the end of two Turns (or when their
Journeyperson feels they are ready) the
Apprentices take an examination on all they
have learnt about their Craft. Upon
passing this examination, the Apprentices
advance to Senior Apprentice rank.
They now choose to specialise in a
particular aspect of their Craft, sometimes
being assigned solely to a Senior
Journeyperson or a Master. When they
are ready (normally four Turns after
joining the Craft) the Apprentices take
another examination and, if they pass the
examination and have the HallMaster's
approval, they advance to Journeyperson
status. All apprentices are expected
to take care of any minor problems that
arise with the guests of the Hall.
