Specialities Within The SmithCraft:

These are the specialised areas within the SmithCraft from which Senior Apprentices choose one or two aspects to focus on.

General (Metalwork): The most common type of smith, they can be found almost anywhere. They form the bulk of the Crafthalls. Metalsmiths usually work with iron and steel, but a few work with silver, lead or copper, and a very few work in gold.

Woodcraft: These are the second most common type of smiths, being found at Holds and Halls with supplies of lumber and at places reliant on the sea.

Engineering: Engineering encompasses all types of techniques used to build something. Masons train at the Smith Hall, while shipwrights spend time at both the Smith and Sea Craft Halls.

Jeweler: The jewelers tend to live at major holds or at the Smith Hall, due to the delicacy of their work. These people work with all fine objects, including rings and necklaces.

Farrier: These people are trained in the art of making shoes for and shoeing runners. They work closely with the BeastCraft Hall, to learn runner anatomy. Farriers tend to live close to areas with runners, and a few might be found travelling in trading caravans.

Starcraft: The astronomers of the craft, most tend to live at either the Hall or major holds due to the delicacy of their instruments. Weather forecasts are produced by this branch, although sometimes the predictions can be terribly wrong.

Glasscraft: A very popular group of smiths, the glasscrafters tend to live at the Hall or other places with a large sand supply. Any good glasssmith could easily find themselves fiercely contested between holds.
