General Information Dragonriders take turns to fly reconnaisance sweeps over the Weyr's territory which is divided into three main sectors known as 'Sweep Sectors.' Everyday, except on the days that Thread falls, a sweeprider is sent out from each flight to assess the surrounding areas, reporting back to their wingleader/second/third on the weather conditions (which are very important for determining strategies to be employed during Fall), relaying messages if a Hold or Hall's message flag is hoisted, and looking for anything untowards in the area. It is also used by Wingleaders as disciplinary action, the Wingleader assigning extra sweeps duties as a punishment. As Icundsa is a new Weyr, sweeps are also used to accustom new arrivals to the areas in which they will be fighting Thread. Icundsa Weyr is severely undermanned at the present time and so regular sweeps are only flown over the populated areas, with irregular sweeps being flown over other areas which were recently discovered to be protected by the grubs that had been exterminated around the Holds for being seen as a menace.
